Explore photos and videos of Bulgarian artist Aleksi Ivanov as he guides you through his creative process in crafting a new art intervention for the BSBSA (Belgrade Sofia Bucharest Street Art) project.
During his seven-day visit, multidisciplinary artist Aleksi Ivanov, originally from Varna and based in Sofia, created an impressive mural and hosted a street art workshop, followed by an artist talk in Bucharest.
During the workshop and the artist talk, participants asked questions and learned tips and tricks from an artist with vast experience in public interventions.
The mural painting “Tales” is a visual representation of the shared folklore of the Balkan region, mainly focusing on the rich traditions of Romania, Bulgaria, and Serbia. It depicts characters like Karakondzul / Kallikantzaros, Lesnik / Leshy, Rusalka, Simargl, Zburătorul, Ala / Hala, the Giant, and Orpheus, amongst vampires, dragons, bikers, and graffiti writers. To add even more fun to the artwork, Aleksi gave a shout-out to the Bucharest graffiti scene, including an IVA subway with throw-ups by Mser and Erps. One of his characters is wearing a gold necklace with an Aeul pendant.
In this sense, the mural offers the viewers a broad perspective that combines many topics and subjects, resulting in a unique interpretation for each individual.
This ambitious endeavour required seven days of hard work, with some days lasting 10 or even 14 hours. Aleksi’s dedication is evident in the mural, which is a statement of his vision and techniques.
You are invited to explore the city and discover this fabulous artwork, kindly hosted by The Owners’ Association at Mihai Bravu Boulevard, no. 75/83, Block C17, sector 2, Bucharest, Romania.
